In a letter to staff, boss Anne Pitcher said it was "the toughest decision we have ever had to take". The retailer has four stores - one each in London and Birmingham, and two in Manchester. However, Selfridges has not yet indicated where the job cuts will be. The company closed its stores in March when the government-mandated lockdown began, before reopening in June. Its restaurants and hair salons began welcoming customers again at the start of this month. 'Fundamental changes' In her message to staff, Ms Pitcher said: "The Covid-19 pandemic has forced change and caused us to rethink so many aspects of our lives and, will continue to do so as we adapt and respond to a new and evolving reality. " She warned that Selfridges needed to make "fundamental changes", adding that the company had been examining every aspect of its business "to ensure we are fit for purpose and the future".

Jordan McCann, 25, now faces a Parole Board review, which is expected to take into account his online antics. From Little Hulton in Salford, he was among 11 people, including his mother and brother, to be handed so-called 'gangbo' civil injunctions in 2016 as part of a police drive to tackle a series of tit-for-tat shootings between rival gangs. After being released from a prison earlier this year, McCann employed a slick production company to make two YouTube videos promoting his rap music, featuring a cast of pals.

I was promised a continuation of my contract after the season ended and on my last shift the managers told me that there were no available positions on their team and I would not be working for them anymore. Queues of keen shoppers have been seen up and down the country already as shops opened their doors today - some for the first time in almost three months. Non-essential shops, including clothes, crafts and charity shops have been closed since March 23, when Boris Johnson announced the beginning of lockdown. The Trafford Centre in Manchester is one of many shopping centres to throw open its doors today, with most of the shops reopening. Social distancing measures are in place throughout stores, and all reopening stores have to be 'COVID-19 secure', as per new Government guidelines.
